Chenzhou City carried out the forest quality improvement project. Chenzhou City has comprehensively improved the forest quality and strengthened the management and protection of forest resources, implemented cutting prohibition and reduction, and promoted the construction of forest ecological improvement, forest fire early warning and monitoring system engineering, biological fire belt construction, and forest pest control engineering.

In the basin of "one lake, two streams and three rivers", Chenzhou City has implemented afforestation of suitable forest land, bare mountain and village, and carried out landscape construction along the river and lake and on both sides of main roads. The city has completed 900000 mu of afforestation, including 50000 mu of new rare tree species base and 113000 mu of landscape afforestation; 3.6 million mu of forest tending, 1.2 million mu of forest closing; 2200 km of biological fire-proof forest belt; 157 green villages, 150 km of beautiful channels and 300 km of beautiful river channels. By 2020, the city's forest coverage rate will be 68 percent, the volume of living trees will be 55.8 million cubic meters, the forest land will be 21 million mu, and the wetland protection rate will be 72 percent.
